Privacy policy

This policy describes Housing Reports Backups, a personal backup utility operated by Christopher Jacob.

Data accessed and purpose

The desktop utility uses Google authorization to access the owner’s Google Drive. It uploads selected Housing Reports database and project backups, reads backup-folder and file metadata, and compares file sizes and checksums to verify transfers. The granted Drive permission is broader than the designated backup folder.

Storage and sharing

Backup archives are stored in the owner’s Google Drive. Temporary copies and verification files are staged on an external drive connected to the owner’s Mac. Authorization credentials are stored locally with owner-only file permissions and are excluded from the backup archives. Incomplete staging is retained when a backup fails.

The utility does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train generalized artificial-intelligence models. It does not intentionally share backups with other users or make them public. Google processes the files as the chosen storage provider under its own terms and privacy policy.

Retention and control

Successful runs remove their temporary staging after verification. Cloud backups remain until the owner deletes them. The owner can revoke the app’s Google access in Google Account connections. Revocation stops future access; it does not delete existing backups.

This website

These information pages have no app sign-in, upload form, advertising or analytics code. The hosting provider may process standard request information, such as IP addresses and browser information, to serve and secure the pages.

Google API data use

Housing Reports Backups’ use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
